Welcome to our Winter 2023 Cohort!
This month we successfully kicked off our 16th internship program! Our interns come from all across the country and have unique talents, skills, and passions. We are completing the initial two weeks of training, where we equip and empower our participants by giving them the skills and confidence to be successful in their internships. We look forward to the internships starting in February.
Welcome to our employer partners!
We are excited to welcome out newest employer partner, Atlas Performing Arts Center, a non-profit performing arts venue in a historic theater. The Atlas fosters and presents art in film, dance, music, theater, vocal and choral work, spoken word, and beyond. This is our first partnership with a theater arts company and we could not be more excited.
We are also happy to welcome back 5 previous employer partners this Winter!
Introducing our newest Board member,
Lauren Focarazzo!
Lauren Focarazzo is highly committed to the BroadFutures mission and is passionate about cultivating inclusive workplaces where all people have an equal opportunity to thrive. She is the Vice President of Business Development at AIR, where she oversees business development operations, market and competitive intelligence, proposal management, pricing, and pre-award functions. Lauren is responsible for ensuring collaboration between programmatic and operational leadership. Throughout her 18 years of experience in business development, Lauren has worked with hundreds of funders, including Federal agencies, state and local governments, and foundations such as the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Lauren has served as treasurer of a co-operative school, and is currently on the PTA board at her children's elementary school. She earned her M.A. in applied sociology, a graduate certificate in the nonprofit sector from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and her B.A. in English from the University of Delaware. A native of New York, Lauren lives in Silver Spring, MD with her wife, two children, and their dog.
BroadFutures is working with Commonwealth Academy to match BroadFutures alumni to serve as mentors for Commonwealth high school students. Mentors would commit to one meeting each month. Please email alatoni@broadfutures.org if you are interested and want to learn more.
